Your Child’s First Visit

Examination:  this is how Dr. Lee performs a child’s first dental exam
Dr. Lee and her team want to make sure that when you bring your child in for their first visit they are as comfortable as possible. This can be scary for them and the more information you have the more likely you are to have a successful visit for your child. Here are 3 tips on how to make your child’s first visit memorable, fun and productive:
·       before the examination, it’s great if your dental team can spend some time talking and playing with the child. Play games, “peek a boo”, “patty cake”, and counting 1-10.  Help the child feel comfortable, smile & laugh with the child.
·       dental professionals should allow the child to touch and hold some instruments, such as the patient mouth mirror and the saliva ejector, while watching  out for their safety.
·       once gaining the trust of the child, he/she is likely to open their mouth for a quick exam, and the dental team can start by checking & counting the teeth out loud, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5…
