A New Year’s Resolution

A New Year’s Resolution can include practicing good dental care, brush 2x/day and floss daily.  You may traditionally focus on losing weight, improving your health, reading more and other New Year’s resolutions. Now is the time to focus on the health of your smile. Your smile health can impact not only your appearance, but it can decrease your overall health as well. Bacteria and dental decay can cause you to feel tired, decrease self-confidence, and cause health problems in the long run. Targeting your dental health this year can be a decision that will keep you healthy for a lifetime.

Research shows it takes twenty-one days to turn something into a new habit. Start by getting up every day and brushing and flossing. That is one day, one time. Then before you go to bed, brush and floss. 2x down as easy as that. Continually brushing and flossing at the same time every day can help to establish the healthy habit you need to keep your smile beautiful.

This year instead of focusing on losing weight or improving your relationships, begin your New Year with a resolution that can potentially change your life for the long run.

If you have any questions about your teeth or dental care, schedule a dental appointment with the Glendora Cosmetic Dentist, Dr. Anna Lee at 626-335-5114.  Email: drannalee1@gmail.com

The Importance Of Floss

Flossing between teeth removes food trapped between teeth and removes interproximal plaque. Flossing is important because it cleans the hard-to-reach tooth surfaces and prevents gum disease and tooth decay.

Dental floss is made from nylon filaments or plastic monofilaments. They can be waxed or unwaxed and they are equally effective.  The ADA recommends brushing teeth twice a day and flossing once a day. They also recommend using the dental floss brands that display the ADA Seal of Acceptance.

A popular question: Should I brush or floss first?
"Either way is acceptable," states Dr. Anna Lee.
Dentists recommend that patients floss first then brush, because the fluoride from the toothpaste has a better chance of reaching between teeth.

Cosmetic Dentistry-Ceramic Crowns Can Make Your Smile Beautiful!

All Ceramic Crowns are fabricated entirely out of a glass-like compound such as porcelain. There are 2 ceramic materials that are the clinicians’ favorites today: lithium disilcate and zirconia.

"Lithium disilicate restorations are the most esthetic restorations in dentistry today," states Dr. Anna Lee.  These restorations match the esthetic characteristics of natural teeth very closely.  Multiple-unit restorations (fixed bridges) are not recommended at this time.

Lithium disilicate restorations are good choices for single unit restorations, both anterior and posterior teeth.

Zirconia restorations are strong restorations but are not as esthetic as the lithium disilicate restorations. Early zirconia materials were opaque and white and were not recommended for front teeth restorations. However, remarkable progress has been made. There are changes being made in full-zirconia restorations, including the availability of numerous colors of zirconia and the development of more translucencies.

Zirconia restorations are good choices for single unit restorations for the posterior teeth.
